Copilot: Artificial Intelligence is baked into Windows 11, here’s how to use It.

Artificial intelligence (AI), in the form of computer bots you can use in your daily life, has landed on your computer and mobile device. The best known of these, ChatGPT, has caused enormous concern in universities as students have used it to write papers and answer questions. AI chatbots are trained on massive amounts of existing books, articles, and transcripts creating a concern among writers, artists, and content makers, that AI simply spits out their copywritten material in some form or another. Windows 11 is integrating Microsoft’s version of an AI chatbot/digital assistant: Copilot. In the upcoming Windows 11 update, you’ll find Copilot added to the taskbar and integrated into Microsoft 365 office apps. So what is Copilot?

Windows Copilot is a feature that helps you get the most out of your Windows 11 experience. It is a smart assistant that can answer your questions, perform tasks, and give you tips and tricks about Windows 11. Here are some examples of what you can do with Windows Copilot:

  • You can ask Windows Copilot to summarize the current web page context or any selected text on the page. For example, you can say “summarize this page” or “summarize the first paragraph”.
  • You can ask Windows Copilot to translate the current web page context or any selected text on the page to another language. For example, you can say “translate this page to Spanish” or “translate the second sentence to French”.
  • You can ask Windows Copilot to generate key takeaways from the current web page context or any selected text on the page. For example, you can say “give me takeaways from this page” or “give me takeaways from the last section”.
  • You can ask Windows Copilot to help you with Windows 11 features such as personalizing your desktop, adding a printer, updating your system, and more. For example, you can say “how do I change my wallpaper?” or “how do I update Windows 11?”.
  • You can ask Windows Copilot to open apps, change settings, search the web, and perform other tasks on your Windows 11 device. For example, you can say “open Microsoft Edge” or “set volume to 50%” or “search for pizza near me” or “mute my microphone”.

Windows Copilot is always ready to assist you with your needs and preferences. Just type or say “Hey Copilot” followed by your question or command, and Windows Copilot will respond accordingly. You can also adjust the settings of Windows Copilot to change its voice, language, mode, and more. To access the settings, click on the gear icon on the top right corner of the chat window.
