UPDATE:

Microsoft announced today that it is releasing a patch for all versions of Internet Explorer and, since there are so many vulnerable XP users still out there, will provide an update for them as well. That’s a really good idea because the more computers that are infected, the more threatened everyone is.

If you have enabled automatic updates your patch will be installed without further action on your part. If not, you might want to change your Windows Update settings now.

Microsoft revealed the existence of a major security vulnerability in in Internet Explorer over the weekend. This is of special concern to users that still haven’t upgraded from Windows XP since it is no longer a supported operating system.

Microsoft has not released a timetable for any updates or patches yet. In the meantime the best bet might just be to use Firefox or Chrome. If you want to continue to use IE, you might want to at least disable Flash as shown in the video below.
