Facebook Courses

Facebook is by far the largest and most popular social media platform in the world. They are two of the most popular Connections courses ever.
The Connections courses are geared to users on desktops, but do touch on mobile app use.

Facebook has also shown to be valuable for seniors and others who are may be limited in their ability to interact socially because of mobility issues. It’s a way to reduce the sense of isolation and the depression that can accompany loneliness as well as stimulate cognition through interaction. Connections Facebook was used in a study at the University of Arizona that showed that users increased cognitive ability as well.

Facebook is currently published as two manuals, Facebook 1 and Facebook 2. Both are available in Spanish.

Instructor Information

If you have contact with students ahead of class, remind them to bring their log-in information and urge them to bring in their own photos (USB drive) to use for posting.

The Facebook courses focus on the desktop version (running Facebook in a browser.) Facebook 2 makes several references to mobile Facebook apps, including Messenger which, for mobile users, is a separate app, and the new Groups app.

Note to instructors, there is a special folder of images for Facebook 2 that includes photos sized for Facebook headers.
